360 MegaSpin

Description of Move.......

A 360 Degree spin whilst standing with one foot on either side of your chainstay and the other foot also off the pedals stretched out for balance

Background Info.......

This move is another Flatland special, only for those who seriously want to impress! The Trick is a bit tricky (not meant to be a bad pun!) because for most people it's quite hard to get your foot on the chainstay without it slipping off or getting stuck in the spokes or tangled up in the chain, but persevere and you'll be able to show off to the max.

How To............

Step 1: The Mega Spin is achieved by standing where the chainstay meets the seat stay. There isn't much room but if you're not too clumsy it's manageable. Roll along with your chosen foot on either side of the chainstay and your other foot still on the pedal for the moment. When you feel your foot is firmly in place on the seat stay and not about to slip lift the front wheel up which will be very easy due to the distribution of your body weight at the back of the bike, explosively turn your body to the opposite side to which your foot is on the chainstay, if your foot is on the right side stay spin anti clockwise, if your foot is on the left stay spin clockwise. With both brakes locked up spin like mad and aim for a full 360 degrees. Twist your body in a spinning motion and take your trailing foot off the pedal and straighten it out for counter balance.

Step 2: It is possible to keep spinning for longer if you have mastered the scuffing technique. By giving the back wheel backwards scuffs you will be able to continue spinning, but this is beyond advanced! This is world class so don't put yourself down if you can't manage it.

Bullet Points

  • Experiment where your going to place your chosen foot, it needs to be firmly in place
  • Remember: If you put your foot on the right hand stay spin anti clockwise, if you put your foot on the left stay it's visa versa.
  • Use your trailing leg for balance by stretching it out off the pedal
