Rockwell Dropin

{Rockwell Dropin}

This is simply a show off trick only and will never benefit you in any way at a competition but who cares! It looks so cool and on bigger drops can amaze anyone. But be warned it is a fast flowing movement and if things go wrong like a foot slips or you miss time the move it could end in tears.

Step 1: It is easiest to learn by approaching the drop by rolling by it at the side so by doing this you won't manage a full 360 spin. Roll by the object at a jogging pace close to the edge, When you feel comfortable pull of a 90 degree front pivot so that your rear wheel hovers over nothingness like in the fishing technique but you will facing further outwards than when fishing. You pull the front pivot at a fast but not super fast pace so you have momentum to spin the front wheel off the object up to another 180 degrees.

Step 2: As the rear wheel hovers over nothingness you use the momentum from your first pivot like in the rockwalk which is on the flat to swing the front off the object. You have to also pull up on the bars and at the same time swing to get the front wheel off the object. It is a smooth flowing movement done at pace.

Bullet Points

  • Front pivot off the object, then swing the front wheel off using the momentum
  • Use a small hop upwards whilst swinging the front end off to ensure it comes off the object
  • Practice small and work your way up
