The Pogo/ Lurch/ Hairyhop/

{Pogo}

This move is impressive but also a must if you want to develop your trials skills up a gear. It can be used to drop off things and also to get up small objects. You can also use the pogohop to hop around in a 360 degree circle and change direction. You can even hop gaps with this method, So the move is VERY useful

Step 1: As with the endo roll start stationary on the spot. Have the cranks horizontal and best foot forward as for the backhop. Pull a really small Endo that hardly lets the back wheel off the ground. When you come back down immediately put a hard pedal stroke in and force the front wheel upwards. This is how you force the bike to go forwards but to get a hop in you have to use the momentum and smoothness from the pedal stroke and also time it right to hop whilst going forward.

Step 2: As soon as you put the pressure on the pedal you have to pull the bars towards your body in a powerful thrusting motion. You have to time it right or you will either do it to late and end up hopping so late you can not get the balance to keep hopping as the front end will be to low or if you do it to soon you will probably go off the back of the bike. The power of the pedal stroke combined with the power of the bars being pushed towards your body should create a hop whilst going forward. Whilst in the air you must grab hold of the rear brake so that you don't come off the back of the bike when landing.

Step 3: To keep going and get more hops in you repeat the process. It will take hours o practice to be able to hop until your arms can't take any more strain but the more you try while riding the better your balance at this will become and eventualy hopping to the side and around in a circle will be possible. To hop gaps lower the front end real low and then kick on the pedals with even more power to get the distance.

Bullet Points

  • Put a powerful pedal stroke in and also thrust the bars towards your chest at the same time
  • Lock the brake in mid hop.
