The Fork

{Rigid Forks}{Suspension Forks}













First of all, Rigid or suspension? If you ride a lot of natural trials in the woods or on rocks then suspension isn't a great option, It's much heavier than any rigid fork so you have to work a lot harder to pull the moves, also it makes balancing a pain, the front is bouncing all over the place and if your a beginner this will definetly not help you. Even if you ride street most of the time suspension generally makes things harder, if you are just slightly smooth you won't need suspension to kill the bumps, unless you go really BIG. I would say that if you are just starting out trials go for Rigid forks, it will speed up learning, make balancing a whole hell of a lot easier and if your learning in theory you shouldn't be doing big old 12ft drops! so you won't need the extra assurance of sus' to let you go that much bigger. Even if you are doing massive drop offs you don't need suspension, riding with rigids will make you a smoother rider in the long run.

A descent pair of rigid forks need to be Strong, have as little flex as possible (not moving about all the time) Fatty R's match the bill well, If you have less to spend get yourself some DMR Sidekick forks. Forks to avoid are the USE and Kona P2 both have too much flex and the P2's are weak.
